DCBiotech has been assisting in development of Biotechnology Career Pathways
at two public high schools:

McKinley Technology High School in Northeast Washington, DC and
Ballou Senior High School in Southeast Washington, DC
Partners are:
    • Carnegie Academy for Science Education (CASE) of the Carnegie Institution for Science (CIS)
    • District of Columbia Public Schools Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE)
    • Montgomery College (MC) Germantown, MD, campus  Biotechnology (BT) Program
    • and federal and private institutions in the DC metropolitan area (see below).
Objectives are to:
    • Provide professional development to the teachers of this fledging program so they can prepare their students for the biotech workplace with research opportunities, summer training, online coursework, and in-school/class mentoring
    • Provide support for students to intern to gain experience in a professional workplace
    • Develop, with OCTE and our workplace partners, a certificate of employability in biotechnology
    • Establish, with OCTE and Montgomery College, a course articulation that will prepare the graduates of the high school biotech program for further study in college and potentially enable our high school students to earn dual credit.
