DCBiotech is assisting the District of Columbia Public Schools to develop Biotechnology Career Pathways at two public high schools:
McKinley Technology High School in Northeast and
Ballou Senior High School in Southeast

1. Partners are:
- -The Carnegie Academy for Science Education (CASE) of the Carnegie Institution for Science (CIW)
- -The DCPS Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE)
- -The Montgomery College (MC) Germantown, MD, campus Biotechnology (BT) Program
2. and federal and private institutions in the DC metropolitan area (see below).
4. Objectives are to:
- Provide professional development to the teachers of this fledging program so they can prepare their students for the biotech workplace with research opportunities, summer training, online coursework, and in-school/class mentoring
- Provide support for students to intern to gain experience in a professional workplace
- Establish, with OCTE and our workplace partners, a certificate of employability in biotechnology
- Establish, with OCTE and Montgomery College, a course articulation that will prepare the graduates of the high school biotech program for further study in college and potentially enable our high school students to earn dual credit.
